Kevin Green
Kevin grew up on the outskirts of Richmond, VA and fell in love with the Shenandoah Valley (and Amanda) as a college student at Washington & Lee University. Upon graduation, he set off for rural Cambodia, where he taught English to young adults and encountered a life as far different from his Virginia home as possible. In the decade that followed, he lived in Italy, DC and Seattle, earned a masters degree in international economics from Johns Hopkins, and built a career in environmental conservation, but the Valley was never far from his thoughts. It was on a trip back to Lexington for their close friends’ wedding that Kevin and Amanda finally realized they’d never feel home anywhere but in Virginia, and their fate was sealed.
At Yonderyear Farm, Kevin manages all livestock and animal operations, lifts the heavy things, and generally just tries to keep up with Amanda. He is also very lucky to maintain a full-time career at Rare, an international conservation NGO whose mission is to inspire change so people and nature thrive. His best days start with sunrise chores and end with evening farm walks.
